Driver risk management Toolkit for small businesses
Every business has a legal duty to manage health and safety in the workplace and this responsibility extends to your driving activities if any staff drive as part of their work.
If your business suffers a major incident involving one of your staff while driving for work, the potential consequences are huge. At best, you could be fined a substantial percentage of your turnover if found guilty of failing in your duty of care. A worst-case scenario is where fatalities are involved which could see the businesses owner being charged with Corporate Manslaughter and probably facing a custodial sentence.
The challenge for small businesses is that they often don’t have the resource or expertise to manage driver risk. Therefore, I have developed a cost-effective Toolkit for managing work-related road safety for small businesses.
The Toolkit has a comprehensive suite of resources and includes a ‘how to’ manual. This unique document is based on my 30+ years’ experience and contains everything you need to know to manage driver safety.
How the Toolkit works
Upon purchasing the Toolkit online (Essential and Essential+ users), you will get access to your Toolkit Portal, which will appear in the menu at the top of the website when logged in. Once inside the portal, a “Getting Started” page contains a step-by-step plan of how to introduce a driver risk management programme and the extensive range of resources are accessed and downloadable from the Resource Library, meaning that everything is at your fingertips.
Essential and Essential+ contain everything you will need to address your duty of care requirements. I provide the templates and resources; you simply edit a couple of documents to suit your business needs and operational preferences. It’s a kind of DIY option, but with full instructions on what, when and how to do things. This makes the cost affordable to even the smallest of businesses.
Premium and Platinum are ideal if you would prefer a more hands-on approach by me, freeing you up to work on your business.
Which Toolkit is best for me?
The Toolkit you choose is up to you and will largely be dictated by your budget versus your time. The outcomes are the same for all four options.
Please click on the Toolkit icons to see the different options available.
This is my entry level Toolkit and as the name ‘Essential’ suggests, it will provide you with everything you need to introduce and manage a driver risk management programme within your business, effectively and without breaking the bank.
Using the Implementation Plan provided, which is your ‘at a glance’ plan of what and when things need to be done, plus with the information in my How To Guide, you will have everything you need to effectively manage driver safety.
Your Toolkit contains two essential documents, a Risk Assessment and a Driver Safety Policy. These are pre-written for you; you simply edit a few places to make the documents relevant to your business. Full instructions on how to do this are in the How To Guide and where elements of your policy need decisions or considerations, I highlight exactly where they are in the document, making editing simple.
Essential+ contains the same features of the Essential Toolkit but with the addition of a Driver Safety Handbook. The Handbook contains a wealth of advice and guidance for drivers on safe and fuel-efficient driving, it shows you go the ‘extra mile’ to promote safety in your business.
The Driver safety Handbook is provided as a PDF document, but printed copies are available at a small additional cost.
The Premium Toolkit contains all the features of the of Essential+, the key difference being that the Risk Assessment and Driver Safety Policy are bespoke to your business. I will liaise with you and then edit the documents for you so that they reflect your business needs and operational preferences.
Installation and setup of our driver & vehicle information management system (free for the first 30 days – licence purchase required if you wish to keep the system
